President’s Report- 10.11

By Michael Norvell –

The next few months will bring a number of exciting neighborhood events, so TMNA is looking a few good volunteers to help make things happen.

Our First Annual 5k Fundraiser is taking place on April 18 so we are looking for help with planning over the coming months, as well as volunteers for the actual race day.  Advanced planning needs include marketing the event, soliciting fundraisers, signing up participants, and arranging items like food, t-shirts, decorations and more.  For race day, we need help with traffic control, refreshments, route planning, other details.

Most importantly we need lots and lots of runners!!   The run is open to all ages and running abilities so please tell your friends, family members, co-workers and others to sign up and spread the word!  Please contact me or Tommy Britt for more information.

Also, our annual Halloween party is this Friday, October 31st!  We need a few more volunteers to help with last-minute items.  Please contact me or see Suzanne Driskill—including her article in this issue—for details.

Generally, the TMNA also needs volunteers to help display TMNA signage for key events.  Specifically, we are looking for at least one volunteer to set out (and pick up) the yard signs promoting our quarterly meetings.  We also need one volunteer to put out (and pick up) the yard signs advertising our monthly Green Cleans.  In both cases, it’s a low-stress, flexible way to provide TMNA with some greatly needed help.  Please contact me to volunteer.

Finally, the next quarterly meeting is Thursday, October 30th at Lazybrook Baptist Church, starting at 6:30PM.  Please attend—and remind your neighbors!  A member of Texas Solar Outfitters, a local solar panel installation company, will be speaking to us about the benefits of solar power at our homes.  See you there – MPN
